Adams Advances to 200 Fly Final

LONDON --- Texas A&M sophomore Cammile Adams will be trying to become the first Aggie to earn an individual swimming medal at the Olympic Games in the women's 200-meter butterfly final on Wednesday.

Adams, from Cypress, Texas, advanced through two rounds of the 200 fly on Tuesday, and will go into the final at the No. 7 seed. Adams easily advanced through the morning prelims with a time of 2:08.18, and then improved to a time of 2:07.33 in the semifinals.

Joining Adams in the final is her USA teammate and top qualifier Kathleen Hersey, Liuyang Jiao of China, Natsumi Hoshi of Japan, Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain, Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, Zige Lui of China and Jemma Lowe of Great Britain.

Adams is the second member of the current A&M women's swimming roster to final at the Olympic Games, joining fellow sophomore Breeja Larson who placed sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke on Monday. Larson's sixth-place effort was the highest-ever finish by current Aggie in an individual race.
