The main responsibility of SAAC is to serve as a forum for providing input to the Athletic Department and the NCAA regarding present and future issues, both on and off campus, pertaining to student-athletes. SAAC organizes Aggies CAN, a can food drive with collections taking place at Kyle Field the day of a home football game. Aggies CAN benefits the Brazos Valley Food Bank. SAAC is comprised of two student-athlete representatives, nominated through their head coach, from each intercollegiate sport. Representatives of SAAC serve as committee members for one academic year and are eligible for re-nomination.

The 2008-2009 SAAC President is Kyle Holland and he can be contacted by e-mail at kholland@tamu.edu. For more information contact the SAAC Advisor Shalena Brown at 862-6028 or sbrown@athletics.tamu.edu.
