NCAA Eligibility Center

The NCAA Eligibility Center works with the NCAA to determine a student-athlete's eligibility for participation in collegiate athletics in his or her first year of college. Students who which to participate in collegiate athletics during their first year of college must register with the Eligibility Center. Below is information about what it takes to meet initial eligibility standards and to be a qualifier.

NCAA INITIAL ELIGIBILITY STANDARDS

Be aware that meeting the NCAA initial eligibility standards does not guarantee admission to Texas A&M University.

(1) A minimum cumulative grade point in a successfully completed core curriculum of at least 16 academic courses including the following:
  • 4 years of English
  • 3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher)
  • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab if offered by high school)
  • 1 year of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science
  • 2 years of social science
  • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or non-doctrinal religion/philosophy)
