COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Three members of the Texas A&M women’s tennis team will compete in the prequalifying round at the prestigious Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, Saturday and Sunday, on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles.

Aggie sophomores Ines Deheza and Anna Mamalat, No. 106 and 108, respectively, in the ITA preseason singles rankings, are both 9-16 seeds in the 64-player singles prequalifying draw. Freshman Rutuja Bhosale, who is listed 10th in the ITA’s freshman/newcomer rankings, also will be competing in the singles prequalifying round, and she and Deheza will pair together to participate in the in the 32-team doubles prequalifying draw.

Deheza is slated to open singles against Caroline Schnell of Denver. Mamalat will face Callie Craig of Utah, and Bhosale is scheduled to take on Romy Koelzer of Clemson.

In doubles first-round action, Bhosale and Deheza will face Southeastern Conference foes Sarah McLean and Yang Pang of Arkansas.

The eight singles players and doubles pairs that win three matches to reach the quarterfinals automatically advance to the qualifying round to be held Oct. 1-2 at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Eight spots in the singles main draw are reserved for qualifiers, while the doubles main draw will feature four teams from the qualifying round.

A&M’s Cristina Stancu received entry into the singles qualifying bracket, and she and doubles partner Stefania Hristov will compete in the main draw of doubles.
