COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian sophomore Hannah Williams continued a banner freshman campaign with a successful summer, winning the Maryland Horse Shows Association (MHSA) Adult Medal Finals in August.

Williams (Woodbine, Md.) competed against 19 other riders in a three-phase class: jumping, equitation on the flat and a testing phase. The top four riders from the jumping and flat competitions entered the testing phase where they jumped a shorter course. Williams’ sister Emily, who finished her career on the Aggie equestrian team last season, won the event in 2012.

“Winning the MHSA Adult Medal Finals was a great way to end my summer,” Hannah Williams said. “I had the highest score in the class after the first jumping round and the flat phase, and ended up remaining on top after my test. It was great to win my first Adult Medal Final, especially since my older sister, Emily, won this class last year. It meant a lot to keep the winning honors in the family.”

Williams was one of five Texas A&M freshmen to earn a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman Team in 2013. The now-sophomore was also named the Aggies’ Co-Rookie of the Year after a 6-4-3 season on the flat.

The Aggies welcome the public to their annual Maroon & White Scrimmage on Sept. 20 at the Brazos County Expo Complex, before kicking the season off at Kansas State on Oct. 5. To learn more about Texas A&M equestrian, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieEquestrian on Twitter.
