COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 14 Texas A&M softball team placed two student-athletes on All-Southeastern Conference teams, the league office announced Tuesday.

Senior Mel Dumezich (Whiting, Ind.) was named Second Team All-SEC as a utility player, and freshman Cali Lanphear (Montgomery, Texas) was tabbed Freshman All-SEC for the same position.

Dumezich (26-6) leads the Aggies from the circle this season, and leads the SEC in games started (31). The senior ranks among the top five league pitchers with 195 innings pitched (4th), 212 strikeouts (3rd), 47 batters struck out looking (4th), 26 wins (2nd), three saves (2nd) and 38 appearances (4th). Dumezich’s 26 victories are 10th in the nation.

Lanphear has had a banner freshman year, slugging 18 home runs to rank second among league hitters. Her .863 slugging percentage also ranks second in the conference, while her 52 RBI rank sixth and her 113 total bases are fifth among SEC hitters. Lanphear also sits among the top 15 in the nation in home runs per game (14th), slugging percentage (11th) and home runs (12th).

Dumezich and Lanphear become the first Aggie softball players in history to be named to All-SEC teams after A&M joined the league in July of 2012. Dumezich is also a three-time All-Big 12 selection.

The eighth-seeded Aggies travel to Lexington, Ky., this week for their first SEC Tournament, facing No. 8 seed Alabama in a play-in game at 3 p.m. CDT on Wednesday. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieSoftball on Twitter.
