BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -The Southeastern Conference announced the 2013 SEC Men's Basketball Community Service Team on Monday and Texas A&M was represented by senior Jarod Jahns.

This marks the 15th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball as well as for women's basketball. All 20 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.

Jahns, a senior from Spring, Texas, has been very active in the Bryan/College Station community since first stepping onto campus and has participated in activates such as the Big Event (day-long community service project in the Bryan/College Station area) as well as helping to raise donations for Still Creek Boys and Girls Ranch.

Additionally, Jahns has participated in Aggies Can, a canned food drive in the community, and volunteered at Creekview Elementary Summer Day Camp. He has also helped run a basketball camp at Lincoln Center for underprivileged youth and participated in the "Nothing but Nets", a program to help raise awareness and money for mosquito nets to fight malaria in Africa.

The Community Service Team is an ongoing effort, by the Southeastern Conference, to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.

Texas A&M men's basketball team is back in action this week when it travels to Nashville, Tenn., to take part in the 2013 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament. The No. 11 seed Aggies will face 14th-seeded Auburn on Wednesday at 9 p.m. (CT) inside Bridgestone Arena.
