Texas A&M was represented in London on Saturday by 2012 senior Amini Fonua (swimming for Tonga), 2010 senior Julia Wilkinson (Canada) and 2009 senior Triin Aljand (Estonia).
Fonua touched the wall first in his preliminary heat of the men's 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:03.65. His time was the 41st fastest of the morning session and he did not advance to the semifinals. Fonua is Tonga's first-ever swimming Olympian.
Wilkinson, in her second Olympics, swam the second leg of Canada's women's 400-meter freestyle relay that placed fifth in its heat with a time of 3:39.60. The foursome's time was the 11th fastest of the morning session and did not advance to the final.
Aljand, also a 2004 and 2008 Olympian for Estonia, turned in a time of 1:00.43 in the women's 100-meter butterfly. She was 35th in the prelims and did not advance.
