2014 BASEBALL SCHEDULE
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Baseball announced its schedule for the 2014 season, a 56-game slate that features 36 home games in the friendly confines of Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies will play 10 teams that participated in the 2013 NCAA Championship for a total of 25 games, including Alabama (3), Arkansas (3), Columbia, Florida (3), LSU (3), Mississippi State (3), Ole Miss (3), Rice, Sam Houston State (2) and Vanderbilt (3). Mississippi State and LSU played in the 2013 College World Series.
“We will have plenty of challenges presented to us with this season’s schedule and we’re looking forward to it,” Head Coach Rob Childress said. “We’re excited about the teams that will be coming into Blue Bell Park this season. Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, Kentucky and LSU will provide a lot of competition against elite SEC baseball teams.
“This schedule provides a little bit of everything for the fans. On the road, we’ll be playing in a major league park and we’ll be playing in four or five stadiums that are ranked among the best in college baseball as far as atmosphere and facilities.”
The Aggies’ 2014 campaign commences with an eight-game home stand, including three-game series against Northeastern (Feb. 14-16) and Sacramento State (Feb. 21-23). A&M will also host Louisiana Tech for a non-conference weekend series on March 7-9 as a lead-in to SEC play the following week.
A&M’s lone road non-conference weekend is at Fresno State (Feb. 28-March 2). The Bulldogs won the College World Series in 2008.
The Maroon and White open SEC play on March 14-16 with a road trip at Auburn. The Aggies other league road series take them to Georgia (March 28-30), Vanderbilt (April 11-13), Mississippi State (April 25-27) and Arkansas (May 9-11).
The Aggies’ league home slate starts on March 21-23 with a series against Florida. Texas A&M also hosts Alabama (April 4-6), Kentucky (April 18-20), LSU (May 2-4) and Ole Miss (May 15-17).
A&M hosts 12 midweek games, including contests against Stephen F Austin (Feb 18), Houston Baptist (Feb 25), Texas Southern (March 5), UT Pan American (March 11-12), Columbia (Marc 18), Sam Houston State (March 25 & May 13), Houston (April 1), Prairie View A&M (April 8), Abilene Christian (April 15) and Texas State (April 29).
Texas A&M travels for midweek games on March 4, against UT Arlington at Rangers Ballpark and April 22 at Rice.
The SEC Tournament is slated for May 20-25 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama on May 20-25.
NCAA Regional action is scheduled for May 30-June 1 before the Super Regionals take place the weekend of June 6-8. College baseball's national champion will be crowned in Omaha during the College World Series on June 13-24.
