Aggies Roll Past UNT Mean Green

The Aggies will be immediately back in the water with a 1 p.m. dual meet against Houston on Saturday at the Student Recreation Center on the A&M campus.

DENTON-The Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team improved to 8-1 after a shutout victory against the University of North Texas Mean Green at the Pohl Recreation Center this Friday.

The Aggies will be immediately back in the water with a 1 p.m. dual meet against Houston on Saturday at the Student Recreation Center on the A&M campus. It will be Senior Day with eight Aggies competing in their final regular season home meet at the Rec. Being honored on Senior Day are Meagan Hairston (Plano, Texas), Jordan King (Portland, Ore.), Maureen McLaine (Plano, Texas), Liz Nelson (The Woodland, Texas), Christine Regone (Katy, Texas), Jaclin Rehring (Lucas, Texas), Tess Simpson (Ingleside, Ontario, Canada) and Rebecca St. Germain (San Antonio, Texas).

Leading the way with two individual victories against the Mean Green was freshman Claire Brandt, who took first in the 50 free (23.79) and the 200 back (2:00.76).

Simpson, Breeja Larson, Paige Miller, and Liliana Ibanez helped the women to take control right away by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:42.80. The women's squad took first and second place in all 14 races.

Individual victories were won by sophomore Sarah Henry in the 1650 free in 16:23.84, freshman Meredith Oliver in the 200 free in 1:52.30, Simpson in the 100 back in 56.12, Larson in the 100 breast in 1:00.88, junior Caroline McElhany in the 200 fly in 2:01.85, sophomore Sammie Bosma in the 100 free in 51.51, Ibanez in the 500 free in 4:58.06 Miller in the 100 fly in 55.96, and junior Erica Dittmer in the 200 I.M. in 2:04.86. Finally, the Aggies completed the meet with a 1, 2, 3, sweep of the 400 free relay led by Ibanez, McLaine, Kelli Benjamin, and Regone in 3:27.47.

Admission to Saturday's home meet against Houston is free, and live results and a live video stream will be available on AggieAthletics.com.
