Maggio Honored by Golf Week
COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Texas A&M women's golf senior Mary Michael Maggio has been named the Player of the Week by Golf Week.
Maggio was honored after her performance at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview, Oct. 5-7, in which she finished first individually. She had an overall score of 213 (-3) and shot an incredible five-under-par in the third round Sunday, during which she birdied three times on the back nine and eagled the 17th hole. Her performance on Sunday moved her from 15th place at the end of the second round to winning the entire competition.
The Liz Murphey win was the second for Maggio, who was the top medalist at the 2012 Big 12 Championships last April in Lawrence, Kan.
Maggio will be back in action with the rest of her team this weekend, as the Texas A&M women's golf team competes at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tenn., Friday through Sunday.
