David Weir is in his eleventh year as the athletic trainer for Texas A&M football and his 23rd season as a full-time athletic trainer for the Aggies. A licensed athletic trainer by the state of Texas, he has assisted with football every season and spent six years as the baseball athletic trainer before making football his primary focus in 1999.

Weir serves as the Chairman of Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers which is appointed by Governor Rick Perry.

Weir served as a student athletic trainer during his four years as an undergraduate at Texas A&M under the tutelage of Billy Pickard and Karl Kapchinski.

The Brenham, Texas native began his athletic training career as a high school athletic trainer at Brenham High School. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1990 with a degree in kinesiology and health. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).

From 1998-2002, Weir served on NATA's Public Relations Committee, as well as serving as the chair of the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association (SWATA) Public Relations Committee. He also served as the liaison of NATA to the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee. He has served on NATA's College and University Committee, the chair of the SWATA College and University Committee. He is a past president of the Brazos Valley Athletic Trainers Society.  Currently, he is the NATA liaison to the American Football Coaches Association where he promotes football coaches education in the health and safety of the football student athlete.

Weir assists in the day-to-day operations of one of the finest athletic training rooms in the country including the medical data base which stores vital personal medical history on Aggie student-athletes. He has drafted the emergency medical plan for athletic facilities at Texas A&M, in addition to the athletic department's lightning policy.

Weir is married to the former Judy Bigbie (A&M Class of '89), a school teacher at Pebble Creek Elementary in College Station. The couple has two daughters- Ashley (19) and Heather (16). When possible, Weir loves to fish and play golf.
